How do I use the directory?

There are a couple of ways to find groups or support in your area:

  • Use the search option on the home page to find businesses and tradespeople by name or location; or
  • View a list of categories and select the one you are interested in. You can then filter the results by location or name of the business / tradesperson.

Select a business or trader to view further information including a map and contact details.

How do I find a business that is no longer listed in the directory?

If the information on a listing is not checked by the owner every three months, it will be removed from the site. This is to make sure content on the directory is accurate. If a listing has disappeared it may be that the information needs to be checked and updated by the organisation, or they may have removed it themselves.

All services may be subject to checks by North Yorkshire Trading Standards, following which a services’ details may be removed from the site.

Where can I find non-profit community service groups, clubs and organisations?

North Yorkshire Connect is our free community directory for North Yorkshire, providing information about the diverse range of community groups and services in the area.

Businesses and traders

Who can list a business on the directory?

The directory has information of businesses and tradespeople open for business in North Yorkshire during the COVID-19 restrictions. The directory lets people know where to go locally for supplies and services during this difficult time.

Use of the services is strictly subject to current Government COVID-19 guidance. All users of the site should be familiar with and abide by current Government guidance in this regard.

Can I add my business if I am not able to trade due to COVID-19 Government restrictions?

We ask businesses and tradespeople not to register on the site if they're not operating currently under COVID-19 Government restrictions. It is intended that the site will be used for local businesses of all types once the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. Communications will be sent out once we are able to make that change.

How do I add my business to the directory?

You first need to register for an account. Once registered you can add your business via the 'Add a new business’ option in the 'My account' section.

How do I update my business in the directory?

Sign in to your account and select the 'My account' option from the main menu. Your services will be listed here. Select the 'edit' link alongside your entry to make any changes.

How long does it take for my business to appear on the directory?

Once you submit your listing, we need to review it before it is published on to the site. We aim to publish listings within two working days. You will receive an email confirmation once your entry has been published. Once published it will take 24 hours for it to appear in the directory.

What happens to the information I provide?

Any business information provided may also be shared with North Yorkshire district councils and the Local Enterprise Partnership as other key COVID-19 response organisations.
