Visiting North Yorkshire

YORK

About

Visiting North Yorkshire works to promote the County of North Yorkshire, showcasing the great and the good on a global stage, via this website, social media and in print with an annual publication, stocked in Tourist Information Centres across the country and distributed around the world.

We believe that North Yorkshire is the most stunning, awe-inspiring, amazing and welcoming County in England and work towards making it the Number One tourist destination in the United Kingdom.

We will list your tourism-related business be it;

  • accommodation (self-catering, serviced, camping, caravanning, glamping and lodges)
  • food & drink (pubs, restaurants, cafes, micro breweries, distilleries and micro-pubs)
  • transport (small bus companies, rail and taxi operators)
  • tourist attraction
  • cinema
  • theatre
  • confectioner
  • gift shop
  • hair & beauty
  • male grooming

We will continually promote you on social media and publicise any promotions you may have at no extra cost.

For those intending to visit, we aim to be an excellent resource, with detailed listings for accommodation, places to eat and drink and things to see and do.

We don't leave it there - whilst on holiday you could need a dentist, doctor, vet or optician. We offer details of where to find some of these too. In addition we provide weather information, transport options and even places you can recharge an electric vehicle.

Coronavirus support

The current climate is difficult for everyone. But for North Yorkshire, tourism is the cornerstone of the economy - if tourism suffers then North Yorkshire as a whole suffers.

We aim, during these hard times, to keep North Yorkshire, it's places to stay & things to see & do, foremost in people's attention.

This situation will eventually be over and when it is, people will rush to take holidays, to get out and about and to spend money.
We want North Yorkshire to be the first place that people think of when restrictions are lifted.

This is not the time to "go dark", for things to fall silent. North Yorkshire cannot afford to lose the spotlight for one moment. With people stuck in their homes, the internet (aside from TV) is pretty much all they have. Internet & social media use goes up and that is where North Yorkshire needs to be more prominent.

We want people looking to North Yorkshire and to our members when they look at things to do and places to go.

We are extremely active on social media, so check our channels to see the content we are putting out. We also work with local radio (YO1 Radio) and recently appeared on BBC Look North talking about the effects of the lockdown and how hard we are working to keep things going.
